My original intent was to do a very loose FMQ swirly, stippley kind of stitching. However, since this was my first time doing FMQ on something bigger than a mug rug, it came out a bit different.
It might not be easy to see, but it's actually a much smaller stipple than planned. However, I'm happy with the way it came out.
The back is from my stash.
The binding is a RobertKaufman print. I thought it would work better than a single color binding. I really like the way it looks.
It's time to link up with Leanne at she can quilt for the end of the 1st quarter Finish-A-Long.
Joyful stitching,
jane
Awesome job! The first time I did FMQ- my quilting was really dense too but I liked it. I hope you bring this to the April meeting so that we can all admire it.
ReplyDeleteJane your Granny is simply stunning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! Your FMQ looks great. DMS does tend to go on smaller scale on the FMQ, but with practice control can be achieved. I have to tell that you're doing really GREAT!
ReplyDeleteBinding is just awesome! Love the print!
This is fabulous and I LOVE the way you did the back!!! There are so many things to think about with FMQ, it really just takes lots of practice until it all comes together;-)
ReplyDeleteEEK! I'm so happy to see this finished. I can't wait to see the finished product in person.
ReplyDeleteI came over from the linky at she can quilt. Your quilt is beautiful. I love the fabric that you choose for the backing:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, it is a beautiful finish. I love grannie square quilts.
